Our web server got swamped for a few hours there and access to the forum, etc. was rarely possible. If there are similar problems in future it's probably best to gather on irc://quakenet/cmc

For techheads: there were 560+ processes running compared to usual ~260, 2GB swap used (usual ~0MB), iowait 90% (10%), load average 30-50 (2). I guess there was a server failure(s) so we wound up running 2 servers' worth of stuff.

I thought it was just blocked this side since it wasn't loading... Glad to see I can still spam here.

The website has been kind of unreliable for me for the past few months though. Is that something your side, or was it just blocked at random times this side?

Hmm, personally it's been fine for the last couple of months. For a couple of months before that it seemed to be a little flaky but as far as I could tell it was a routing problem about half way between me and the server (at gblx.net) so I don't know if that was affecting anyone else.

What symptoms have you been seeing? Have you tried a tracert?

Haven't tried a tracert, no. But basically the forum would be down for me at random times during the day, so I'd just wait a couple of minutes before trying to reload the page.

"down"? Do you get an error message, for example? If you can't access the forum, what happens if you try the RevS forum, or the main website? Have you seen this problem recently?

Work in progress. Expect some turmoil, especially with regard to permissions. I'll post when I think everything is done.

The news section doesn't seem to be very usefull atm. Maybe it could be merged with another forum. Other than that, it seems fine to me.

That should be most of it done. Just need to refine which groups each rookie is in and move some posts to the new forums. You may want to "Mark topics read" on a few of those. ;)

There seems to be a problem with cookies and logging in on http://f.tmcmc.com/ . Use http://tmcmc.com/f/ instead for now; it seems to be more or less usable. Be aware it'll put a long &sid=..... thing at the end of the URL. Keep that to stay logged in.

Should all be working again. Let me know if there's ("there are" for F10) any issues.

Updated to a new version of phpBB. There were a few customisations on the old version and I'll be redoing those soon.

Remember, when there are problems with the forum, IRC is the best way to get sorted. There are usually a few CMCs with a clue there.

This forum opened 5 years ago today. Can we call it the permanent home yet?
